AMAestancia is situated on 180 hectares of property of which 67 hectares are being reforested with native species to help reconstitute the natural corridor and landscape of the region. We are very proud that our forestry project is FSC certified and guests at AMAestancia are invited to tour the upper property through our network of trails, either hiking or on horseback. AMAestancia is unique in many ways. In terms of biodiversity there is a lot of work to be done within the Azuero Region, we at AMAestancia are committed to responsible development and operations within our property, and the Region. We are very lucky to have two High Conservation Value Forests within our properties boundaries. These HCVF’s both have old growth trees, large creeks and rivers, and have in the last few years following reforestation seen an increase in population of wildlife, including: monkeys, iguanas, rabbits, and deer to name a few. In addition to its reforestation project in collaboration with MAIN-INTERNATIONAL, S.A., AMAestancia’s involvement in environmental projects – coral reef protection, turtle nest protection, and local recycling centers – differentiate us from other resorts in the area. Our overall environmental strategy is to reduce, reuse, recycle as much as is possible, and to over time ‘fine tune’ our operations so that we can leave the local environment in a better state than in which we found it. AMAestancia is not a ‘zero’ footprint resort … yet.
